Family papers including correspondence and one travel diary, relating to the Adams family of Medford, Mass., in particular, family correspondence to and from John Quincy Adams (b. 1825, not the president) of Charlestown and Medford and his wife, Ann Eliza (Perkins) Adams, including their courtship letters (1854-55). Most of the correspondence to Adams concerns routine family news and is primarily from his siblings, including Thomas H., Andrew B., and Edward E. Adams whose 1853 letters document his work on sugar plantations in Bahia, Brazil. Papers of Ann Eliza (Mrs. John Q.) Adams include correspondence from her children Katie and Edward P. whose letters include descriptions of his studies at Worcester Technical Institute, 1874-76, and his work in the Engineering Department of the Northern Pacific Railroad Company in 1881-82; and a diary of her trip from Boston to St. Louis and up the Mississippi River, ca. 1883-1884.
